Kohlhasenbrück

The old locality of Kohlhasenbrück today belongs as a district to the Berlin district of Wannsee in the district of Steglitz-Zehlendorf. It is located directly on the border with Potsdam south of the mouth of the Teltow Canal into Griebnitzsee. Kohlhasenbrück includes the settlement of Albrechts Teerofen located east of it on the Teltow Canal and the Eule estate.
During the time of the German division, the street route over the Alsen Bridge at Pohlesee or the Hubertus Bridge south of Stölpchensee to the Böckmann Bridge over the Teltow Canal was the only drivable connection from West Berlin to Kohlhasenbrück. A connection via the Nathan Bridge only led to Königsweg, an unpaved forest path to Zehlendorf. At that time, the only connection from Kohlhasenbrück to the West Berlin exclave of Steinstücken led initially only via a forest path starting at the end of Machnower Straße along the Wetzlar train line, which was only expanded into a fixed road connection after a territory exchange in 1972. East of this connecting road, the extensive forests in the landscape protection area of Parforceheide connect, characterized by their unusually high proportion of Markian pines, which thrive well on the clayey and sandy dry soils of Teltow.
