The Fürstenwalde hunting lodge is a baroque building in the town of Fürstenwalde/Spree. The castle, located near the Spree, was built for King Frederick I of Prussia.
Frederick I had the castle built between 1699 and 1700 by the then court architect Martin Grünberg. Among other things, he was also entrusted with the conversion of the Grunewald hunting lodge. In addition to the castle itself, various ancillary buildings such as a fishing house, an avenue, a carp pond and a pleasure garden were also built. It was to be used for hunting and as a starting point for visits to the estates in Golzow.
