Paderborn High Trail [South Loop]

The southern section of the Paderborn Hoehenweg trail starts at the hiking parking lot near the Kleiner Viadukt in the Dune Valley. The path ascends quite steeply for about 10 minutes up the northern slope to the viewing platform, where around 50 meters in altitude need to be climbed. From the platform, there is a magnificent view of the Kleiner Viadukt and the Beketal valley.
Following the orange signs of the Paderborn Hoehenweg trail to the left, after about three kilometers and another hundred meters of ascent, the highest point of Paderborn (347 meters above sea level) is reached. A "summit cross" - with a summit book! - clearly marks the spot. The path leads through the "Mittelholz" area, initially passing by the "Buche mit den zwei Beinen", then past the Pestfriedhof towards Neuenbeken - with beautiful views of the village along the way.
At the intersection after the mausoleum of the glassmaker family Uhden, continue towards the glassworks, now following the blue-marked cross-connection path, where after about a kilometer, the viewing platform is reached again. From here, it's only a few minutes to the hiking parking lot in the Dune Valley.
The Paderborn Hoehenweg trail was certified as a "Quality Trail Wanderbares Deutschland" by the German Hiking Association in 2014, 2017, and 2020!
