Harzer BaudenSteig 1: From Bad Grund to Lerbach

The BaudenSteig leads past numerous Bauden (hiking lodges) and provides the hiker with a light day pack. The starting point is in Bad Grund. The varied history of the Harz spa and holiday resort Bad Grund is closely linked to the Iberg limestone massif. Iron ores were mined until the year 1885. In the mid-1980s, they began with the healing gallery therapy. Also unique in the Harz is the exotic forest "WeltWald Harz". 600 woody plant species from all over the world grow in a park-like forest covering around 100 hectares. It is the most significant facility of its kind in Europe. Bad Grund also has a lot to offer for children, for example, the Fairy Tale Valley, where each fairy tale house and all fairy tale characters have been handmade. A special feature is the Cave Experience Center "Iberg Tropfsteinhöhle". Even a snowball fight in summer is possible - with snow from former glacier pots. Plenty of reasons to spend a day in Bad Grund before tackling the first stage of the BaudenSteig from Bad Grund to Lerbach. It is the longest stage, but there is plenty of time for a stop at the Albertturm, the first lodge on the BaudenSteig.
