Bike Arena Sauerland - SKS-Bike-Trail Sundern No. 46

From the starting point "Stadtmarketing Sundern," you first roll comfortably over asphalt out of the city. At the end of Seidfeld, the tour begins with a climb to Dörnholthausener Höhe. Compensated for the altitude meters, you will be rewarded with a challenging downhill trail that leads to Endorfer Hütte and ends with a crossing of the forest stream.
Now the 3-kilometer ascent towards Wildewiese begins. A downhill trail connects us to the winter sports resort, characterized by an extensive gastronomic offer and an excellent view. Also, this is the halfway point of the route, with the highest point of the tour at approximately 600 meters above sea level. A short detour to the 60-meter-high Schomberg Tower is worthwhile, especially in clear weather. The panoramic view allows glimpses to the Rhein-Weser Tower at 23 km, Astenturm at 34 km, or the Bielefeld TV Tower at 95 km. The tour continues along the Sorpeberg on narrow trails. For those who prefer to be on good forest roads, there is an opportunity here to avoid the trails. After the "Sieben Wegekreuz," a stretch with many beautiful viewpoints follows. In a mix of forest roads and single trails, the tour leads to Dörnholthausen.
Civilization has us back! Behind the Stockumer sports field, we circle the Bergmer on a beautiful single trail and arrive in Stockum, which is ideal for an extended rest. Passing the former glider airfield near Seidfeld, we reach the transmitter mast after some ups and downs. From here, we descend towards Sundern via root trails and technically challenging sections. Concentration is required here; otherwise, a painful fall may occur. Passing the tennis halls, we reach the starting point of the tour at the town hall again on public roads. If the tour becomes too long along the way, it can be shortened at Endorfer Hütte, Wildewiese, or Stockum and return to Sundern on paved paths/roads.
