On a sultry summer day, the castle (Schloss Birkenau) offers a welcome fresh break (when open). If you like to relax or "linger": be sure to stop by the church (Evangelische Stadtkirche). This route takes you along some unpaved paths. There’s little chance you'll see many cars along this route. This tour is certainly not flat everywhere. Almost forgot, you’ll definitely want to stop at St. Laurentius.
