The IJssel line: defences from the cold war
In response to the threat of the cold war, a plan for the construction of a water line was carried out in the deepest secrecy after the 2nd WW. This was to stop the possible advance of the Russians.
The remains of this military defence in Olst are managed as a museum. With a still fully equipped hospital bunker, command bunker and tank turrets that you can visit. The IJssellinie is located on the Haere estate between Deventer - Olst. More information can be found on www.ijssellinie.info
