The Rijsterbos is a forest near Rijs in Gaasterland, in the southwest of the Dutch province of Friesland.The deciduous forest managed by It Fryske Gea is 172 hectares in size and is located between the IJsselmeer and the village of Rijs. The forest was created in the 17th century as a coppice forest by an Amsterdam regent family De Wildt. They lived in the House of Rijs, popularly known as the castle. The garden around the castle was also part of the Rijsterbos. On the southeast side of the forest is the Séfonsterpolder.
