Hubertus Wild Animal Trail

Balance your way across tree trunks, splash around in mountain streams, marvel at lifesize marmot carved from wood, or simply relax in one of the wooden recliners overlooking the landscape – the Hubertus Wild Animal Trail next to the Zillertal High Mountain Road offers lots to see, do and explore for visitors of all ages. The trail comprises eight interative learning stations where young explorers can find out more about the animals which are native to the mountains of Tirol. Thanks to the fine gravel surface it is possible to complete the trail with a pushchair or buggy. There are a number of huts and guesthouses en route serving food and drink.
The Hubertus Wild Animal Trail begins next to the Kalterbacher Skihütte, a large ski hut located on the Zillertal High Mountain Road (toll road). The first section leads gently downhill to the Hubertuskapelle chapel. Walkers then return along the way they came, past the starting point and on to the Berggasthof Platzalm. There, once again, they must turn around and return to the starting point. The trail can also be completed in the opposite direction.
