The route starts in Oetz im Ötzdal and runs counterclockwise.
This means that you get two difficult climbs, namely first the Kühtaisattel (2017 m), then the Silzer Sattel (1690 m). In between, there is a long descent of the Kühtai (which is interrupted in Sellrain by a turnoff from the main road, followed by an ascent to Oberperfuss), and you cycle for a long time (35 km) through the Inn Valley, the last part of which is on the Inn Cycle Path (asphalted).

The 9.7 km climb of the Silzer Sattel from Haiming has an average gradient of 10.1%. And the Kühtai has passages of 16%. If you make the rounds in the opposite direction, it is much less difficult, but then you climb the Kühtai from the less attractive side of the landscape.

Shortly before the summit of Kühtai, it is also possible to climb up to the Finstertal reservoir (cul-de-sac): this brings an additional 370 meters of altitude (with a 3.6 kilometer ascent).
