Geraardsbergen is a railway station located in Geraardsbergen, The Netherlands. About 8,000 people use the station every day (about 4,000 boarding herons). There are 2 head tracks and 6 through tracks. The tracks were electrified in 1986 with the electrification of line 90 to Denderleeuw and line 123 to Enghien.
The first station building was built in 1855 or 1856 in Flemish neo-Renaissance style, after a design by Jean-Pierre Cluysenaar. The so-called city station (also found in Lessen, Ninove, Aalst, Lokeren and Dendermonde) was a symmetrical building with a service room in the middle, a waiting room on the left and a goods depot on the right.
The current station building was designed in the period 1944-1946 and was a state-of-the-art station at that time. Although the construction was already finished in 1944, the building was not inaugurated until 1946, in the presence of Minister Rougvaux. In 1998, the tunnel to the tracks was extended to papiermolenstraat.
The old goods shed has been given a different purpose, today it houses the train conductor and train driver depot.
The bus terminal is located in front of the station square. However, the infrastructure of this is rather outdated, but there are electronic information panels that, among other things, communicate bus delays to passengers.
