The chapel of Saint-Remy, a small village church, was built in neo-Gothic style in limestone rubble based on plans by Pierre-Joseph Louwers, a provincial architect whose godmother was Marguerite de Cerf, a former resident of the village, which explains why the clock bears the name of Marguerite.
The legend of Saint-Rémy (Remigius):
The birth of our great teacher and confessor, Remigius, was foretold by a hermit. When all Frankenland was left devastated after the passage of the Vandals, there lived a holy hermit who had long since lost the light in his eyes. He spent day and night in prayer, asking God to restore peace and glory to the Church of France. Now an angel of the Lord appeared to him, saying, "Know that a woman named Cilina shall bear a child called Remigius. He shall deliver his people from their evil enemies."
When the hermit awoke, he immediately went to the house where Cilina lived and told her of the vision he had seen. But she did not believe him, for she was already aged. Thereupon the hermit said, "Beware: when you breastfeed the child and smear my eyes with the milk, then at that moment I will regain the light in my eyes." And it all happened just as he said.
