Destelbergen: Damvallei, Green Lung just outside Ghent

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Dam Valley, the beautiful 'green lung' between Destelbergen and Laarne. This recreational walk takes you along a mosaic of grasslands, reed fringes, and the meandering Serskampse Beek, which gives the valley its characteristic moist nature.

This area, shaped by the former meanders of the Scheldt, is a valuable nature reserve and a paradise for bird lovers. Along the way, you may spot numerous waterfowl and reed birds with a bit of luck.

The route is freely accessible all year round on the paths. Due to the moist character of the valley, boots or sturdy, waterproof hiking shoes are highly recommended, especially in the wetter seasons.
