Langnau am Albis has an area of 8.7 km2 . Of this area, 27.7% is used for agricultural purposes, while 48.6% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 22.5% is settled and the remainder is non-productive . In 1996 housing and buildings made up 17.1% of the total area, while transportation infrastructure made up the rest . Of the total unproductive area, water made up 0.6% of the area. As of 2007 16.6% of the total municipal area was undergoing some type of construction.
