Seitenroda is a municipality in the south of the Thuringian Saale-Holzland district and part of the administrative community of Southern Saaletal.
Seitenroda is located about 2 km east of Kahla and to the east behind the Leuchtenburg. The steadily rising and winding L1062 leads past the castle and directly through the village to the east towards Eineborn, with a connection to the federal motorway 9 at Hermsdorf. The hilly territory of the village covers 405 ha. Muschelkalk and Buntstein weathering soils dominate. Except for the valley areas, these lands are far from the groundwater. The hills and steeper slopes are forested and equipped with hedges.
