The Buchschirm is a mountain 745.2 m above sea level in the Rhön, east of Hilders in the Hessian district of Fulda. It is located within both the Rhön Biosphere Reserve and the Hessische Rhön Nature Park. At the summit stands an observation tower that provides a wide view to the west and north as well as into the Ulstertal valley. This makes the Buchschirm a popular destination for hikers. At the summit, there is also a memorial stone of the Rhön Club, branch association Hilders, the Cross of the East, and further south, a transmission mast.
On the southwestern slope lies the basalt rock group of the Battenstein with a chapel, to the west a holiday home settlement and the youth camping site of the municipality of Hilders, as well as a youth hostel. In the northwest, there are the youth education and recreational facilities Thomas-Morus-Haus and Pater-Löslein-Hütte of the St. Michael Youth Work. To the north, the Seekutte follows, a resting point for hikers of the Rhön Club branch association Simmershausen/Rhön. The Rhönwaldloipe in the southeast is a popular destination for winter sports enthusiasts.
