Gartow See is a lake in the municipality of Gartow in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg, in Lower Saxony, Germany. The lake, which is about 2.3 km long and has a maximum width of 650 m, is located north of the core area of Gartow and between the L 258 and L 256 state roads running northeast. The B 493 crosses the lake in its southeastern section. The outflow at the northwestern end of the lake is via the Seege, a left tributary of the Elbe.
The lake was artificially created in the 1970s and is mainly used for local recreation. At the outflow in the direction of Restorf, there is a barrage in the Seege to regulate the lake water level. Although the lake is located about 2 km to the side of the Elbe, during the recurring Elbe floods there are extensive damming in the lake lowlands, which can also cover the area of Lake Gartow. A special example was the Elbe flood in 2013, where the top of the dike on the L 256 from Gartow in the direction of Gorleben had to be secured.
