The small nature reserve is located on the edge of the Senne military training area and has typical features of the Senne landscape: Sandy grassland and broom heather grow on the nutrient-poor sandy soil, birch and pine dominate as trees. The flat heath landscape has a high biodiversity. On the northern edge, the sand was mined in earlier times except for the underlying marl layer. Water collects in places in the pit and thus promotes the growth of moisture- and clay-loving species.
