The Holy Cross Church in Landsberg am Lech is situated on a hill overlooking the old town. The former Jesuit church was consecrated in 1754. Previously, there was already a predecessor building from 1584 on the same site, which was one of the first churches of the order in Germany.
The Rococo furnishings date from the mid-18th century. The ceiling paintings were created by Christoph Thomas Scheffler. The high altar painting by Johann Baptist Baader from 1758 depicts the crucifixion of Christ. The Holy Cross Church is designed as a novitiate church. This is evident from representations of the order's saints Aloysius Gonzaga, Francis Xavier, Ignatius of Loyola, Paul Miki and companions, as well as Stanislaus Kostka.
