Hutberg

The Hutberg is a 371-metre-high hill in the Großschönauer Becken- und Kuppenland in eastern Upper Lusatia in the Free State of Saxony. The forested mountain rises opposite the centre of Großschönau and the confluence of the Lausur above the Mandau valley. Since the end of the 18th century, festivals have been held on the local mountain of Großschönau. the Hutbergbaude, opened in 1878, is the centre of the village's cultural life. From the Lichten plan in front of the chalet there is a view of the village center with the church in front of the panorama of the Lusatian mountains with the peaks of Lausche, Weberberg and Tollenstein.
The Hutberg is surrounded to the south and west by the Mandau, into which the Lausur flows at the southern foot of the mountain. To the west of the mountain runs the state road 135 from Großschönau to Spitzkunnersdorf, from which Hutbergstraße branches off. To the north rise the Hofebusch, Pfaffenberg, Forstenberg and Lindeberg, to the northeast the Wiedeberg, to the southeast the Hofeberg and the Breiteberg, to the southwest the Jahnsberg and the Finkenhübel, to the northwest the Steinberg and the Warnsdorfer Spitsbergen.
