The Eschenlaine is a forest stream about 10 km long, generally running towards the west-northwest in Upper Bavaria, which flows into the Loisach from the right at the edge of the village of Eschenlohe.
The Eschenlaine traverses the Eschenlainetal, which connects the Walchensee basin with the Loisach Valley and borders the Ester Mountains to the north.
The Eschenlaine springs at about 901 m above sea level, a little west of a saddle that is 906 m above sea level, its watershed to the nearby Walchensee. Initially, the right bank forms the boundary between the municipalities of Wallgau in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district, with the stream and the left slope, and Kochel am See in the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district, with the right slope. After the inflow of the Grießlaine from the north, its largest tributary, it passes into the municipality of Eschenlohe in the Garmisch-Partenkirchen district. Just before the confluence with the Kessellaine, near the area Am Juchzer, the Eschenlaine is dammed into a small lake, which has largely been silted up since then.
