Count Henry II of Salm built a castle around 1190, which was transformed in the course of time and was already in ruins in the 16th century. The members of this lineage became the sole masters of the territory in 1571, but the territory remained undivided, and sovereignty was shared between the two branches of the family. La Broque thus became a semi-partial town, one half of which went to the Dukes of Lorraine, who kept it until 1751, when it also came under the authority of the Prince of Salm-Salm.
When the principality of Salm was reunited with France in 1793, the commune was incorporated into the Vosges department, before being detached by the Treaty of Frankfurt in 1871.
Also worth seeing: the Kupferschmitt farm, the Salm oak tree, the Anabaptist cemetery, the Salm castle...
