It is a small but precious 'Bomboniera' in which only a few but valuable artistic works can be seen.
From its foundation, it was the seat of the brotherhood of fishermen, under the name of the 'Precious Blood'.
When the old harbor silted up (around the 14th century) , the fishermen, who no longer had a safe haven, used the bay of Fossola for their boats and then walked to the Porta di Santa Caterina, which stood near the church of the same name, to enter the city.
Shortly after 1600, we see that the Fishermen's Guild, with its 'limosine', contributed to the construction of two portals on the facade of the Church of Carmel, which in the meantime was rebuilt on the ruins of the previous one and was called San Rocco. This circumstance confirms the existence of a very strong presence of families dedicated to fishing (and related activities) in the lower part of the city.
Among other things, the following works are preserved: a painting of the Madonna and Saint Gaetano by the Caccamese 'Cardillo'. A 15th century reliquary, a Saint Bartholomew and a portrait of the Duke of Caccamo by G. Patania.
The church is currently on loan to an association
