Palazzo Rudinì is one of the buildings that demarcate the Quattro Canti of Palermo, built around 1760 by Giuseppe Maria Giurato and then occupied at the beginning of the nineteenth century by the Starrabbas, marquises of Rudinì.
It therefore owes its name to the noble family and is mainly remembered for being the residence of Antonio Rudinì, the mayor of Palermo who faced the historic "seven and a half" revolution in 1866.
The palace was built on several levels, each of which had a specific function: the ground floor was reserved for storage areas, the mezzanine was for servants and the administration of the house and the main floor was for the nobility.
At the entrance, the large entrance portal is striking, flanked by stone Billiemi columns and surmounted by the coat of arms of Starrabba, while in the entrance hall the large monumental staircase in red Trapani marble continues.
Today , little or nothing remains of the palace's ancient splendor. Over the years, some renovations have erased what little was left of the frescoes on the walls and floors. You can catch something in the large room on the first floor, with the roofs still painted, the mirrors on the walls, the fireplace and the doors.
