The National Boarding School "Giovanni Falcone" in Palermo is a boarding school with internal public schools: primary, lower secondary and classical secondary education.
It was founded in 1675 by the Jesuits under the name "Collegio Massimo". The building underwent a major restoration at the beginning of the nineteenth century. The institute was then called "Convitto Nazionale Vittorio Emanuele II", the first king of Italy and part of the property was ceded to the classical secondary school Vittorio Emanuele II.
In 1999 the boarding school was named after Giovanni Falcone who attended the school. He was an Italian investigating judge and best known as a fierce fighter against the Sicilian mafia.
