Reflecting in the narrowest part of the Netherlands

'The narrowest part of the Netherlands, wide enough to fully enjoy'. That is how the municipality of Echt-Susteren presents itself because of its unique location. Literally where the Netherlands is narrowest, between Belgium and Germany, it is no wider than 4.8 kilometers.

Here there is plenty of attention for quality of life, unwinding and reflecting. This reflection cycle route comes in handy here. The reflection cycle route is divided into two loops and is largely based on the well-known cycle junction system. Along the way you will come across various stories, museums and relics.

The religious heritage is also well represented in this part of South Limburg. For example, while cycling the north loop (47.2 km) you will pass the Sint-Landricuskerk in Echt, Lilbosch Abbey in Pey or the Carmelite nunnery in Echt. Do you cycle the south loop (33.1 km)? Then enjoy the views of the Koppelberg in Dieteren, the Saint John the Baptist church in Nieuwstadt or the centuries-old Sint Amelberga basilica in Susteren.

Of course, the avid cyclists can combine both loops for an extensive bike ride of a total of 72.3 km. You will be amazed by the beautiful nature, the beautiful views and of course the various cozy terraces to take a break.

The south loop starts at Salvatorplein, where you can also easily park.
