Walking through the Pannenhoef

This 5 kilometer long walking route leads through the Pannenhoef nature reserve.
De Pannenhoef is a nature reserve of approximately 706 ha located between Zundert, Etten-Leur and Rijsbergen in the province of North Brabant and is owned by the Brabants Landschap Foundation. In the area, which consists largely of mixed forest, eleven fens and some heath remnants are present with an important natural value. Numerous birds breed there, including green woodpecker and buzzard.

Peat was extracted in this area from the 14th to the 17th century.

While walking you walk along various peat poles.

Peat piles are steel works of art that refer to peat history.
Each small pole deals with a certain theme.
The large piles indicate the excavated peat thickness, the piles also contain a beautiful poem.

This route can also be cycled with a mountain bike.

The starting point is at the Lokkerberg car park.
