The public water supply of the city of Vilaflor de Chasna was provided by the place known as El Chorrillo . The first water pipes from the sources of the Traste de doña Beatriz and Madre de Abajo reached this place for the distribution of drinking water, food for animals and basic hygiene and health needs.
Along the route along which the water flowed from the galleries, there were both open-air and covered wash places . Many women came to these washhouses to do their own laundry or that of wealthier families who paid them for washed items. The wax was spread on the stones to be bleached by the dew and dried by the first sun of the morning. As a meeting place they played an important social role.
