Zogge is a village in the Belgian province of East Flanders. It is located on the territory of Hamme, between Hamme center and the hamlet of Huivelde in Zele. Zogge has about 1,500 inhabitants.
The first written mentions of the hamlet of De Sogh can be found in the sixteenth century. The origin of this name is not precisely traceable. There are two possibilities. In the first and most likely, the name would revert to the original landscape. Zogge used to be a marshland. The Moernen and the Gavers still bear witness to that. Until the late Middle Ages, wild boars roamed the current territory. De Sogh could then refer to "The sow". The hamlet was located on the old stone road from Sint-Niklaas, via Waasmunster, to Dendermonde. The Ferraris map from the 1770s shows the rural hamlet of De Sogge here, about four kilometers southwest of the center of Hamme.
