The Park of Laeken is located along the route of the Green Walk and is part of an extensive landscape that includes the Royal Domain and various parks in the area north of Brussels (the Ossegem Park, the Gardens of the Florist, the Sobieski Park, the Colonial Garden, etc.) (visit.Brussels, n.d.).
The site was designed in the “French style” (one of the rare examples in Belgium), featuring wide avenues, winding paths, large lawns, flower borders, clusters of trees, and extensive plantings of yew and cherry laurel. When the sun shines, the arrangement of the trees creates a backdrop and a play of shade and light. The Monument to the Dynasty is the focal point where you can walk towards via two winding paths (visit.Brussels, n.d.).
