‘Hotel de l’Industrie’. That was the name of the hotel and restaurant at the corner of Martelarenplein and Bondgenotenlaan in Leuven in 1939. 80 years later it is still called Industrie, although the name has been Flemishized, and it is still a hotel.
Industrie was one of the many buildings that were destroyed during the war by bombings. The current hotel still has partly the same walls. But the shape of the doors and windows is different and the building has a higher roof.
The large staircase in the center of the hotel is still the same as in the 1930s.
Although the facade seems to refer to the Artois brewery (now ABInbev), the building is said to have nothing to do with it.
