On my own to Oteppe

A ride to Oteppe is a classic around here. At least for the cyclist who likes to cover more kilometers and is not afraid of elevation gain.

Because indeed, this ride is at least 140 km and you will ascend about 1000 meters.

And you don’t only gain that elevation on the route to Oteppe. After Oteppe it seems to go down again, but after the sometimes long descents, there is another climb.

Anyone used to cycling in the province of Antwerp or Limburg might sometimes grind their teeth when they cross the language border.

It is doable, but I’m used to better. Judge for yourself. I cycled with a light headwind and that makes it so much more enjoyable to ride back home.

Normally, I would stop at the fish pond in Oteppe, but it only opened at the beginning of April.

So I just ate my sandwiches at the Kruiskapel in Walshoutem.

The route is completely paved and mainly low in traffic. And a well-deserved pint in the center of Aarschot.
