(This is the Conscience Route shortened to the stretch past Zoersel)
Hendrik Conscience, known for such works as De leeuw van Vlaanderen and De Loteling, loved the Kempen. In Zoersel and Schilde he found complete relaxation. He often invited friends to enjoy nature together. He liked to walk in the Zoersel forest, the setting for some of his stories.
Handsome nature and salutary tranquility: you will find the same today on the Conscienceroute.
You explore some beautiful castle grounds, cross the legendary Zoerselbos and turn back the clock a hundred years in Salphen. Together good for a pleasant bike ride in the heart of the green Kempen region.
