Hertogenwald Eupen + Peat Area Kutenhard

Departure: Parking lot Ternell (Monschauer Straße)
First, we make a gentle ascent to the Getzbach river. We follow it briefly to cross it at the level of Rotenbüchel. This takes us to the moorland area Bennetchen - Kutenhard. We cross the area via a flood path to land back at the Getzbach. From here, we enter the fairytale Hertogenwald. We follow the river for about 3 kilometers and cross it (only then!). We cross the hill to Hill (or Helle). Below this hill runs the canal that brings water from the Hill to the Getzbach, thus providing enough water for the Eupen reservoir. We reach the outlet of this canal. Now we follow the Hill through a valley that may be even more beautiful than that of the Getzbach. Some sections of the path could be somewhat dangerous for less experienced hikers and small children. After about 3 km, we turn left for the gradual ascent to Ternell. Those who wish to test their mountain legs can also take the steeper ascent to Ternell earlier (at the Ternellbach stream).
