Vespa Club Tessenderlo

Club ride: Tom Boonen Ride 129Km - May 26, 2024 - departure 11am.

The work week has flown by again and look, it's Vespa day, Sunday Club day! We get to enjoy ourselves under the guidance of ride leader Eric Ghoos and his team of road captains. Today we ride the Tom Boonen ride. Who among us still remembers the well-known Tommeke world champion remix? The hype was very big back then, and the cycling atmosphere was at its peak!

After a short briefing from the ride leader and chairman who briefly explain the safety rules and describe the ride ahead of us, we depart through the Gerhagen nature reserve and wind our way to Endsbergen, Schaffen, Zelem, Halen to ride up the Lenieberg with our steel horses! Of course, we do this with two fingers in our nose and snake through the houses and fields.

Through Lockshagen to Waanrode where we stop to quench our thirst at Café onder den toren. Friendly service and plenty of space on the terrace to accommodate a large group like us.

Alright, recharged and ready for part two towards Molenbeek-Wersbek over the Wijndries towards Bekkevoort. Turning left by Scherpenheuvel through Testelt and between Wolfsdonk and Blauberg, we head towards Herselt where we pass the Kapittelberg and see the Kapittelhoeve of the Willekens family in the distance.

Through Bergom we pass the Laakvalleien Trichelbroek and Varendonk where you can also go for a nice walk.

The beautiful sections follow each other, and we ride on to Geel center at the market where we make a second stop. The choice falls on the Irish pub where we could find a place on the large terrace at the market.

Upon departure, we were gently admonished by a beautiful police officer that we had parked our wasps incorrectly, since we were on the market. But fortunately, some of them couldn't restrain their charm, and we got away with just a warning.

We turn around and ride back towards the club house where we pass the beautiful Hoolstmolen and the Vennen in the distance to nicely conclude the day on the terrace of the Black & White.

Another beautiful ride with a pleasant atmosphere and many smiling faces!
