Buckautal is a municipality in the western part of the Potsdam-Mittelmark district in Brandenburg and is part of the Ziesar office.
Buckautal is located about five kilometers south and east of Ziesar, on the border with Saxony-Anhalt. The municipality lies south of the Fiener Bruch on a glacial sandbank. Mainly pines grow on the sand. The municipality stretches over ten kilometers, reaching from the district of Dretzen in the southwest to the district of Steinberg in the northeast. Near the district of Dretzen lies the Altengrabow military training area. Watercourses in the municipality include the namesake Buckau with its tributaries Krummer Bach, Strepenbach, Litzenbach, and Kirchenheider Bach.
