Mauel Castle is a small moated castle in the municipality of Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is a two-storey greywacke quarry stone building.
In 1555, Wilhelm von Etzbach was the owner of the manor house. At the beginning of the 17th century, the Lords of Vellbrück took up residence here, but later leased the property. In 1787 they sold the property to the previous tenant Peter Voß for 23,000 Bergisch thalers. In 1794, the Benedictine monks of Brauweiler Abbey near Cologne, who had fled from the French occupying troops, found accommodation in the castle for some time. Other owners were the Hundhausen, Kammerich, Kirchbaum and Wehner families. In 1991, the Lenz/Schmid family acquired the building and renovated it. In 2007, the castle changed hands and now houses conference rooms, a management consultancy and residential units. In addition, a beer garden and a wine bar invite you to take a break.
