The varus tower is a 21 m high, built as a reinforced concrete observation tower structure on the Lammersbrink at the southern city limits of Georgsmarienhütte in Lower Saxony.
The lookout tower was built in 1975 by the former Möller company on behalf of the town of Georgsmarienhütte. The new tower replaced so that it was on the same site in 1892, built by the former George Marien-Verein AG lookout, which however had to be demolished due to decay again in August 1935. Varus Tower is named after the Roman general Varus, who in 9 AD in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest resulted in a crushing defeat against the Germanic commander Arminius (Hermann) in the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest.
Bordering on the southeast, Dörenberg is identical to the varus tower Hermannsturm . Both towers are connected by a footpath, the mountain road connected.
