The Mehrum House is the ruin of a fortified house in the district of Mehrum in the city of Voerde in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Wesel.
The Mehrum House was presumably built in the 15th century. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it belonged to a family named Lützelrath or Lützenrod and was plundered twice by the Spaniards in 1598 and likely partially burned down.[1] Janna, the daughter of Bertram von Lützenrod and his wife Ursula von Marnix, was the heir to one-third of the Mehrum House. She married Baron Conrad von Strünkede in 1625 and brought the estate into his family. His son Gottfried von und zu Strünkede inherited it and sold the house to Wilm Salentin von Katzgen of Geretzhofen. He had a daughter and heiress with his wife Almuth von Vietinghoff called Schell to Schellenberg: Almuth Louisa.
