Monument in memory of the deported Sinti and Roma - Trier

This impressive monument in memory of the Sinti and Roma deported during the National Socialist regime , designed by artist Clas Steinmann , was unveiled on September 10, 2012 .

The monument consists of six bronze steles with a turquoise patina, which are arranged in a straight line with a one-meter space between each one . This arrangement invites visitors to walk between the steles, which creates a moment of contemplation and reflection.

During World War II, countless Sinti and Roma from Trier and the surrounding area were deported via a collection camp in Cologne to ghettos and concentration camps in Eastern Europe . The monument commemorates these victims and serves as a lasting reminder of the atrocities committed under the National Socialist regime.
