Description

This easy hike passes by the fishing ponds at Blumenberg, through the ruins of Sachsenburg, past the Priorteich (a beautiful natural outdoor pool in the summer), over Geiersberg in Walkenried, and finally to the ZisterzienserMuseum Kloster Walkenried.

Route description

This easy approximately 5.5 km long hike starts from the parking lot at Friedwald Bad Sachsa. First, cross over to Blumenberg via the L604. Here, you will find the fishing ponds in Bad Sachsa. A truly beautiful and peaceful landscape awaits you here, so the hike starts off relaxed. From here, continue to the ruins of Sachsenburg. Then, the trail leads through the deciduous forests of the South Harz region to the natural outdoor pool Priorteich. If desired, you can take a short break here and then continue refreshed towards Walkenried. You will pass by Geiersberg and finally arrive at the ZisterzienserMuseum Kloster Walkenried, the endpoint of the hike.

Directions

At the intersection of Bahnhofsstr./Walkenrieder Str., head towards Walkenried and after approximately 800 m, turn left or from the direction of Wieda/Walkenried, turn right before entering the village onto the parking lot at Friedwald.
