Klötzie-Stieg

The Klötzie refers to the northern area of the Ice Age terminal moraine landscape of the Drawehn, which ends as a steep slope at the Elbe floodplain. Between Drethem and the Weinberg in Hitzacker (Elbe), many natural and built viewpoints await you! From the Kniepenberg observation tower, you have a fantastic panoramic view over the Lower Saxon Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve and the Drawehn Heights. With some inclines, the Klötzie trail winds its way through forested paths, pretty villages, and along the Elbe through changing natural landscapes. The Govelin Field Lily Path, which blooms particularly colorful and impressive in summer, and the Leitstadter Dolmen mark worthwhile stopping points. The old fishing village of Drethem on the Elbe is also worth seeing with its small church with a copper onion dome. Furthermore, on the Klötzie trail, you pass through the low-lying, flood-influenced meadows near Tießau, which provide interesting insights into their animal and plant worlds.
