The 258 m high Wachtberg is the namesake as well as a special focal point of the municipality of Wachtberg. In addition, it offers a fantastic panoramic view over the Drachenfels region all the way to the Siebengebirge in clear visibility conditions. The circular path through the forest and fields leads from Wachtberg to the spherical space observation radar of the Fraunhofer Institute, then to the Hohenberg with the famous cathedral quarry, which once enabled the continuation of the construction of Cologne Cathedral. The Stumpeberg provides insight into its volcanic vent and a magnificent view over the Rhineland volcanic landscape. While passing through Berkum, it becomes visible through various buildings how diverse the local volcanic rock is used.
