It is located at 42° 44" 15" N and 0° 46" 25" W on a slope 548 m above sea level, on the left bank of the Bayas River. The land on which it sits consists of marl and ochre sandstones.
The site has been inhabited since prehistoric times. Next to the Bayas River, there is the so-called Dolmen of the Andrinales, one of the many prehistoric sites found in the area. Discovered in 1955 by Domingo Medrano, it consists of half a dozen sandstone slabs without a cover or mound, sunk into the ground around a chamber and corridor whose axis is oriented N-S.
