The gardens of Vallellano were built on the site of the former Huerta del Rey, along with the avenue that marked the extension of the Paseo de la Victoria to the River Guadalquivir and the redesign of the approaches to Córdoba from Seville.
They were inaugurated on July 18, 1955. A few decades later, the landscape was redesigned by removing part of the trees and creating wide, straight, paved paths to replace the earthy, winding paths originally designed. Swings and other elements for children's enjoyment were also installed.
These gardens are home to a large number of shrubs and trees, some of which are very large for their age : oleander, Jupiter tree, cassowary, cedar, Japanese plum, Jerusalem artichoke, eucalyptus, ash, magnolia, mimosa, palma excelsa, paradise, plane tree, etc.
There are also archaeological remains such as a Roman cistern.
