The Neuvy-en-Sullias Treasure is a treasure found in 1861 in a sand quarry in Neuvy-en-Sullias and containing one of the most remarkable sets of Gallic bronze objects of the Gallo-Roman period: statues and figurines of animals, human figures and deities.
On May 27, 1861, workers at a sand quarry in Neuvy-en-Sullias, a small town in the Loiret located in the natural region of the Loire Valley, discovered by chance a treasure trove of bronze objects collected in a 1.40 m² warehouse made of bricks, stones and tiles, without masonry. The circumstances of the discovery, the lack of monitoring of the site, the complications of sharing due to the number and definition of the beneficiaries explain the vagueness surrounding the exact extent of the discovery: local sources speak of silver coins and other objects that later disappeared. Purchased in 1864 by the city of Orleans, most of the objects of the treasure are now on display in the local historical-archaeological museum, while some of the missing pieces, which disappeared, were later recovered.
