Start at the free parking at the Oude Veerse weg in Middelburg.
This bike tour takes us past the historic city of Veere, one of the oldest seaside resorts in the Netherlands, Domburg, and Zoutelande, sung by BLØF and Geike Arnaert, with start and finish in the versatile capital of Zeeland, Middelburg.
It is recommended to provide a small circular walk in each of these places. Middelburg, on the other hand, requires a visit in itself.
The drive from Middelburg to Veere is largely through a polder landscape. From afar we see the Grote Kerk of Veere, lngs where we enter the city. A walk on the old city walls with its many cannons takes us past the Campveer tower, to the marina that connects to the Veerse meer. The Old Town Hall and the stone bear, an old bastion from the time of Napoleon are worth a visit.
Between Veere and Domburg we drive on and along the dikes of the Veerse meer and through the vrouwenpolder and via the wooded Oranjebosch to Domburg. The afforestation makes it a lot easier in windy weather from the West. When entering Domburg there is a large bicycle shed. Next to the beach , the main street is the 'place m'as-tu vu' with its many shops and restaurants.
From Domburg it goeslargely on the asphalted dike to Westkapelle with its war museum. From here, the route turns to the south-east, which is favorable for the wind. Also beer a lot of afforestation as far as Zoutelande. Together with Dishoek and Westkapelle, Zoutelande is also called the Zeeuwe riviera because of the many hours of sunshine. With the south-facing beach , Zoutelande has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands. And that in combination with the high dunes and the cosiness of the village makes it an attractive area. But Zoutelande is also known for its coastal marathon, bunker museum and St. Catherine's Church.
A little further we leave the coast to return to Middelburg through the polder landscape . We pass the grist mill of Biggekerke, better known as Brasser's grist mill. Here, 100% Zeeland wheat is still ground into traditional flour.
