This route takes you along the banks of the Angstel, the picturesque Gein, and the rural northern part of the Vecht. Along the way, you will encounter ten mills, most of which are polder and grain mills. These ten mills together tell a story about the area you are crossing and the functions that the mills served within it. And often still do! A mill is never placed without reason at its location; there is always a historical interaction between the mill and the surrounding landscape.
In addition to mills, you will pass a castle, centuries-old farms and country houses, as well as many views of rivers or the hinterland. Along the way, forts, casemates, and batteries remind you of the Dutch waterline, which this route partially crosses.
In short, this tour is a great pleasure for any cyclist who loves beautiful landscapes where expansive views and the protection of riverbanks alternate. No wonder that part of this route was captured long ago by artists like Rembrandt and Mondrian!
