This cycling tour around the Maarsseveense- and Loosdrechtse Plassen and along the historic river Vecht takes you in about 2.5 hours along the most beautiful places of the Vecht region.

Cycle through Dutch landscapes where it seems as if time has stood still. It is a succession of beautiful water and nature reserves, views filled with windmills and historic farms and centuries-old impressive country estates and castles along the winding Vecht, rightfully the most beautiful river in the Netherlands!
Along the way you will pass cozy restaurants (often with a terrace on the water) where you can get off for a snack and drink. Halfway along the route you can rent a sloop, sailboat or canoe at various places, so that you can also discover the Vecht and Loosdrechtse Plassen from the water.

Highlights along the way
Various forts, Maarsseveense- and Loosdrechtse Plassen with swimming, sun and sailing opportunities, Castle-Museum Sypesteyn, Slot Zuylen, Mijndense Sluis, historic Vechtdorpen Nieuwersluis, Breukelen, Maarssen and Oud Zuylen, and dozens of country estates along the Vecht.

Around Utrecht Central Station there are various rental locations for public transport bicycles. At Catharijnesingel 34 there is a bicycle rental of non-public transport bicycles. Here you can also rent e-bikes.

About Gooi & Vecht
The Gooi and Vecht region comprises two regions: the lower, wetter Vechtstreek and the high and dry Gooi. The Vechtstreek is named after the river Vecht, which flows through it as a rich vein. Hilversum is the bustling heart of 't Gooi, as the Media Capital of the Netherlands with, among other things, the Institute for Sound &Vision, the largest Media Park in Europe and a cozy and extensive shopping heart.
