Cycling through the hills of South Limburg? The Mergellandroute shows the most beautiful places. The total route is more than 155 km long, but you can also opt for a day trip. This western loop explores the hill country between Valkenburg and the Maasdorp Eijsden.

Along the way you will discover what makes the South Limburg landscape so special, from marl caves to square farms, road crossings and of course the beautiful views. Do you like fresh fruit? Then you are in the right place on this route. Then be sure to stop at one of the many farm shops or stalls along the way. After all, this area is teeming with fruit orchards.

In the Maas village of Eijsden, the atmosphere around the central square is almost French: cobblestones, white facades and painted shutters. But also the Rock Dwellings in Geulhem and the Velvet Cave and Castle Ruin make this route truly unique in the Netherlands.
